• Positive: 1. extremely helpful and well-informed staff 2. ultra modern yet comfortable decor 3. quiet rooms 4. air conditioner worked! 5. location-next to the Royal Palace, Opera, 10 minutes from Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol, 20 minutes walk from the Prado, and a Metro stop just feet from the front door. We have stayed at the Opera 4 times since 2003, and it is always top notch.

• Location: 10 Royal Palace, Royal Opera, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Metro stop Opera. If you like to jog, the gardens of the Royal Palace (Sabatini Gardens, Campo del Moro) are just a block away. Also, if you are driving, easy access to the M30.
• Common facilities and services: 7.5 This is a boutique hotel. They have a nice breakfast room, bar, and lounge. Everything has been remodeled and modernized.
• Staff: 10 Staff was uniformly wonderful! Everyone had a smile and a word of welcome. If it hadn't been for one of the front desk clerks, we wouldn't have known that there was a new terminal at Barajas since our last visit (and it turned out all of our flights left from the new terminal!). In addition, they cheerfully made restaurant reservations for us, gave us directions and touring advice, and held our bags for the day. Thank you, Hotel Opera!
• Quietness: 10 Double pane windows and shutters that block out light. You can't hear the street noise. We slept very well.
• Room: 10 Clean rooms, comfortable beds, well equipped bathrooms and air conditioning that worked!!!
• Value for money: 10 If you book through their website, they offer discounts for multiple rooms, days, or booking in advance.
