• Would you recommend it? Yes
• Positive: The hotel is well located for all the sites of Madrid. Some of the rooms are large (particularly the terrace room we had on the fourth floor) and all are well appointed.
• Negative: The staff attempted to be responsive to questions and requests for help, but exhibited an indifferent attitude and the restaurants to which we were recommended were poor and expensive. One got the impression that recommendations were made based on arrangements with other vendors (for restaurants, taxis, etc.) rather than objective views of the best establishments. Also, some travelers might find the hotel location off-putting, as there is a very active trade in "the oldest profession" going on in the adjacent block and even on the street in front of the hotel one night (although the prostitutes are not overly aggressive and we did not find the atmosphere threatening).

• Value for money: 5 We only spent one night in madrid so we got an inexpensive hotel. For those willing to compromise a bit on comfort, the value was good for location and clean place to sleep.
