• Quietness: 5 The street was being repaired. Garbage is picked up in the middle of the night. You could hear the bottles dropping into the truck.
• Room: 7.5 Low ceiling and the floor plan was a little funky. Other than that, the room was very comfortable. Wish the ac was not controlled by a central system. I like the room cold. Had to open the windows and temperature was fine, but I had to deal with the noise. Welcome to Europe.

• Negative: The entire hotel is very hot in temperature. We stayed in mid-March and the entire building was overheated. I am not sure what the cooling would be in summer. Bring, request or plan to purchase a fan.

• Cleanliness: 10 Extremely clean. One of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. I have high standards in this regard and MEP met and actually exceeded my standards.
• Location: 10 Great location in the center of the old area of Madrid. Easy access to Metro and taxis.
• Common facilities and services: 10 Bar services excellent with both smoking and non-smoking areas. I did not eat at the MEP but the food looked excellent. Excellent and flexible maid services -- would make up the room at any time.
• Staff: 10 Great staff -- very helpful.
• Quietness: 2.5 Very noisy on the outside of the hotel even though located on a side street. Garbage collection activity late at night and early morning. Wandering groups of intoxicated youth screaming and yelling late at nighht. In side noise level OK. Cannot open windows if you are sensitive to noise. Pat of price you pay for central location,
• Room: 7.5 Rooms are small but typical for Europe. Showers small on some rooms. Bed firm to hard -- not good if you like a soft bed. Request rooms with balconies on 4th floor -- great! Rooms and hotel in general very hot in temperature. Can be stuffy. Not good if you like fresh air.
• Value for money: 10 Great value for an extremely clean hotel. If you get the balconey you can get fresh air. Plan to bring, request, or purchase a fan for greater comfort.
